Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 794

Southern
Terminus: CTH-ZZ/College Ave., where the communities of Cudahy, Oak Creek and South Milwaukee meet at a singular point

Northern Terminus: I-794 transition at the Carferry Dr. interchange in the southeastern portion of Milwaukee

Length: 4.76 miles

County: Milwaukee

Routing: Wisconsin's highest-numbered state trunk highway begins at the intersection of CTH-ZZ/College Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave., and heads north into Cudahy along Pennsylvania Ave.  At the intersection with Edgerton Ave., Lake Pkwy. begins, and WIS 794 turns off of Pennsylvania Ave. onto the relatively new parkway, which consists of a mix of interchanges and intersections as it passes through Cudahy, St. Francis and into Milwaukee.  North of the traffic signal it has with a connector road to Oklahoma St., WIS 794 transfers from a parkway into a freeway,   WIS 794 crosses over WIS 32 and, upon arriving at the Carferry Dr. interchange, comes to an end, as it directly transitions into I-794.

View from WIS 794 North of the aesthetic single-span overpass that carries Howard Ave. over the Lake Pkwy.  A drive along along the Lake Pkwy. stretch of WIS 794 is a very enjoyable experience, given the specific detail given to aesthetics in the overpasses, the sound walls and everything else affiliated with the parkway.

View of WIS 794 North as it passes underneath the uniquely-designed St. Francis Ave. overpass.  The beams and decking of the bridge are perpendicular to the parkway, but the alignments are different between the northbound and southbound sides of the bridge.  Why is that?  A set of railroad tracks cross over WIS 794 at a sharp angle here, and in fact, intersect St. Francis Ave., which is perpendicular to the parkway, right on top of the overpass!

Left-side overhead signs denoting lane assignments for traffic bound for WB and EB Oklahoma Ave., respectively, for left-turning traffic on WIS 794 South at the traffic signal with the access road for Oklahoma Ave.  This signage is necessary because the connector is less than a block in length, so once traffic has turned, they will immediately be faced with the signalized intersection with Oklahoma Ave.

Just north of the Carferry Dr. interchange, at the southern end of the Hoan Bridge, is this left-side shield assembly denoting the Northern Terminus of WIS 794, which appears on the opposing side of the light pole that holds the assembly marking the eastbound end of I-794.  Ahead, I-794 crosses the main span of the Hoan Bridge over the Milwaukee River inlet, with downtown Milwaukee looming in the background.
