Northern Terminus: At A-40 just west of Pont de l'Ile aux Tourtes

Routing: A-540 is a very short freeway that links A-20 to A-40 in western Montreal.  It is particularly useful for vehicles looking to avoid A-20's arterial section through Dorion.  In the future, A-540 will be incorporated into A-30's extension.

Advanced signage denoting the A-40 interchange.  Northbound A-540 defaults onto the Montreal-bound lanes of A-40.  Travelers bound westerly towards Ottawa and Ontario's Highway 417 must exit to the right following a long one horseshoe shaped ramp.
