Ohio Route 729

Northern Terminus: OH 323, 3.5 miles east of South Solon

Length: 33.58 miles

Counties: Clinton, Fayette, Madison

Routing: OH 729 begins its three-county journey at the OH 73/OH 350 duplex northwest of New Vienna.  The state highway heads northeasterly through northeastern Clinton County, turning northwesterly after OH 72 as it heads into Sabina, where it meets US 22/OH 3.  Heading north out of there, OH 729 enters Fayette County, passing through Milledgeville before meeting the US 35 freeway.  After following OH 435 easterly for 1 mile, OH 729 resumes its northerly trek, crossing over I-71 before entering into Jeffersonville.  There, after meeting OH 41 and OH 734, OH 729 proceeds northward out of town, passing into Madison County prior to coming to an end at its junction with OH 323 east of South Solon.

...Newer OH 435 West reassurance marker accompanied by lower, older OH 729 South reassurance marker, posted just after OH 729 joins the former alignment of US 35.  The OH 435 marker here is the first one in the westbound direction.

Older OH 729 shield and newer OH 435 shield, each facing the OH 729 South approach to the T-intersection where OH 729 joins the roadway that once carried US 35, which is now on a four-lane freeway alignment to the south of here.  The roadway to the left is locally-maintained County Road 35A, while the former US 35 to the right is state-maintained OH 435.  OH 729 duplexes with OH 435 for 1 mile before resuming a southerly trek solo.
