Ohio Route 58

Southern
Terminus: US 250 in the northern end of Ashland

Northern Terminus: US 6 in Lorain

Length: 41.66 miles

Counties: Ashland, Lorain

Routing: Starting at a T-intersection with the US 250 northern bypass of Ashland in the northern end of the city, OH 58 follows a connector road to Orange Rd., then turns northeasterly, passing underneath US 250 as it enters into rural Ashland County, and curves to the north as it meets OH 302.  Bending back to the northeast, OH 58 makes its way up to the OH 89 junction, then heads due north, passing US 224 en route to crossing into Lorain County.  Next, after passing Findley State Park, OH 58 passes into Wellington, where it meets OH 18.  Continuing north, the state route passes US 20, and makes its way into Oberlin.  There, it passes by the campus of Oberlin College.  North of the village, OH 58 meets OH 113, widens out to a five-lane highway, then intersects I-80/I-90/Ohio Turnpike at Exit 140.  OH 58 next passes through the east side of Amherst, meets the OH 2 freeway, and enters into the City of Lorain.  Following a junction with OH 611, OH 58 comes to an end where it meets US 6 near the Lake Erie coast line.

This sign conglomeration, including an END OH 58 shield atop a US 250 West/East directional sign and a TO I-71 trailblazer, appears at the Southern Terminus of OH 58, a T-intersection with the US 250 by-pass of Ashland.  OH 58 actually passes underneath US 250, then meets it via a connector roadway from Orange St.  Consequently, OH 58 is facing north at its Southern Terminus!

First reassurance marker for OH 58 in the northbound direction, sans a directional banner, and located just after the US 250 intersection.  One of the reasons why there is no NORTH banner above this OH 58 reassurance marker may be since the roadway is going southeasterly at this point.

Overhead sign on OH 58 North for the turnoff for I-80/I-90/Ohio Turnpike.  The OH 58 interchange (Exit 140) is the newest one along the Ohio Turnpike, opened in 2006.  It is located less than 2 miles west of the eastern split of the lengthy I-80/I-90 duplex that carries for more than 275 miles through northern Indiana and northern Ohio.
