Routing: OH 301 begins in the hamlet of Lattasburg in western Wayne County at OH 302. Heading north, OH 301 intersects I-71 at a partial interchange, then heads into West Salem, and meets US 42. Continuing from there, OH 301 passes through southwestern Medina County, crossing US 224 and then entering Spencer, where it intersects OH 162. Northerly into Medina County, the state route crosses paths with OH 18, then continues on to LaGrange, and a junction with OH 303. South of Elyria, OH 301 meets US 20, and then follows U.S. route along a freeway northeasterly to an interchange with OH 57 and OH 10. OH 301, along with US 20, exit the freeway, and follow OH 57 north on a four-lane divided eastern by-pass of Elyria. OH 301 splits off from OH 57, passes underneath I-80/Ohio Turnpike, and heads northerly through a primarily suburban setting, passing through the northeastern part of Lorain, and entering into Sheffield. After passing over I-90/OH 2 without any fanfare, OH 301 goes northerly into Sheffield Lake, where the state route comes to an end at US 6, just 2 blocks away from the southern shore of Lake Erie.
