New York Route 89 |
|
Northern Terminus: NY 104, at a partial interchange just south of Wolcott Length: 62.25 miles Counties: Tompkins, Seneca, Wayne Routing: NY 89 begins at its junction with NY 13, NY 34 and NY 96 near downtown Ithaca. Traversing northwestward out of Ithaca, NY 89 passes through winery country, as it straddles the western shore of Cayuga Lake, generally paralleling NY 96 for a distance to east into Seneca County, before turning northerly. After traveling more than 40 miles without intersecting another state highway, NY 89 meets US 20/NY 5 just east of NY 318's Eastern Terminus near the northwestern end of Cayuga Lake. NY 89 then continues northerly, passing by the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and crossing over I-90/New York Thruway en route to meeting NY 31. NY 89 joins NY 31 for approximately 3 miles into Savannah, where NY 31 turns west, and NY 89 continues solo to the north up to NY 104, where it comes to an end at a partial interchange just south of Wolcott.
