New York Route 198

Eastern Terminus: Route 33 interchange.

Length: 3.59 miles

Counties: Erie

Routing: Route 198 is a very short highway that runs from I-190 on the Niagara River easterly to the Kensington Expressway in northeastern Buffalo.  the Highway starts at I-190 near Squaw Island progressing Northeasterly beside the Scajaquada Creek.  Past Grant Street the highway begins a more easterly trajectory before meeting Main Street at a diamond interchange.  Route 198 ends at a tight directional interchange with the Kensington Expressway.

Overhead 'button-copy' signage for the I-190 interchange.  When this sign was taken, I-190 was still tolled both directions into Downtown Buffalo.  Considering the economic troubles that have befallen Buffalo for the past fifty (or so) years, its amazing to think road tolls like this could have existed for as long as they did.
