Delaware County Town of Hancock	Scenic view westerly from approximately mile marker 302. Route 17 is one of the most photogenic freeways that I have ever drive on.

Delaware County Town of Colchester	This view looks westerly towards Exit 93. Take notice that their is not a single other vehicle along Route 17 in this photo. I took this photograph on a Sunday morning, definitely an off-peak time, however on both occasions that I have driven the Quickway, I have noticed that traffic volumes are very low through this section of highway.

Delaware County Town of Colchester	Westerly view between Exit's 93 and 94. Notice the considerable difference in elevation between the eastbound and westbound carriageways. Considerable effort is expended during the engineering phase of a new highway to figure out ways of moving as little dirt as possible.

Sullivan County Town of Rockland	Westerly view looking towards Exit 94. This section of freeway had obviously been very recently reconstructed just before this photo was taken. Work is ongoing to upgrade Route 17 to current Interstate standards so it can be inserted into the Interstate Highway network as I-86.

Sullivan County Town of Thompson	Westerly view along Route 17 approaching 'Exit' 98. Exit 98 is really a signalized intersection. This is the only traffic signal along the entire length of New York Rout 17. (Traffic signals had previously existed along Highway 17 through Elmira, they were removed during a reconstruction project that was completed in 2008). Judging from the apparent light traffic volumes utilizing both Route 17 and the cross-road, it is surprising that traffic signals are warranted at this junction.

Sullivan County Town of Liberty	Westerly view along Route 17 from between Exit's 102 and 103. I am not sure exactly what is housed in the large building that is located in this photo, but it seems very out of place in the otherwise forested landscape.

Sullivan County Town of Thompson	Advanced signage for Exit 103. This short section of flat highland is very atypical of the terrain found along Route 17 between New York City and Binghamton.

Sullivan County Town of Thompson	This view looks westerly approaching Mile Marker 335. As is evident from the photo, considerable rock had to be blasted away from the surrounding countryside to punch the Quickway through this section New York State.

Sullivan County Town of Thompson	Guide signage in advance of Exit 104 to Monticello. Notice the uphill passing lane that has been constructed along Route 17. There are some considerable grades along Highway 17 as it passes through the Catskill Mountain Range. By comparison the New York State Thruway passes through much more mundane scenery as it cuts through New York State.

Sullivan County Mamakatin Township	Westerly view as Route 17 climbs to the top of the Shawangunk Mountains as seen from the Mountain Road overpass. The scale of this incline is lost in the photo -- The Quickway is ascending a very considerable grade.

Sullivan County Mamakatin Township	Half mile advanced signage for Exit 114. I may have written this before, but it surprises me that exit signage would not include the road name but rather just the destinations that can be achieved by following Exit 114. It seems, aside from urban areas, where signing the proper road name is typical, in rural areas unless the exit is a state maintained numbered highway only the destinations are listed along guide signage.
