Southern Terminus: Pennsylvania State Line south of Elmira, where NY 14 turns into PA 14

Northern Terminus: Greig St. cul-du-sac in Sodus Point

Length: 94.54 miles

Counties: Chemung, Schuyler, Yates, Ontario, Wayne

Routing: NY 14 commences at the Pennsylvania State Line south of Elmira, where it connects with PA 14. At the NY 328 junction, PA 14 joins the Clemens Center Pkwy., which carries the state route through the midst of the City of Elmira. At Woodlawn Ave., PA 14 shifts west and turns northerly onto College Ave. The highway passes through Elmira Heights, intersects I-86/NY 17, then enters into Horseheads. North of there, NY 14 heads through rural terrain into Montour Falls, followed immediately by Watkins Glen, where NY 14 briefly duplexes with NY 414, and passes by Watkins Glen State Park. From here and for the next 35 miles or so, NY 14 hugs the western shore of Seneca Lake, passing a number of wineries through Yates County on its way up to Geneva, where NY 14 meets US 20/NY 5. After departing Geneva to the north, NY 14 intersects NY 96 and I-90/New York Thruway within 0.5 mile of each other. Then, it continues into Wayne County, passing through Lyons and, approximately 5 miles north of its junction with NY 104, enters into Sodus Point. Here, NY 14 turns east at the Lake Rd. intersection, and follows Bay St. and Grieg St. up to a cul-du-sac on a peninsula in Sodus Bay, an extension of Lake Ontario, where NY 14 comes to an end.

Schuyler County Village of Watkins Glen	Northerly view through Watkins Glen towards the Route 414 intersection. Highway 414 is a long route that runs roughly parallel to Route 14 northerly from Watkins Glen along the east side of Seneca Lake.

Schuyler County Village of Watkins Glen	Looking northerly just north of Watkins Glen as Route 14 begins its climb from lake level to its perch high atop the western bank of Seneca Lake. The southern section of Seneca Lake is bounded by high hills that very distinctly define the lake's boundaries. To the north, the topography is much more subdued.

Schuyler County Town of Reading	About halfway to the top of the hill northerly from Watkins Glen, Route 14 becomes a divided highway. It would appear that Route 14 takes a significant amount of tourist traffic considering the design standards of the highway between Watkins Glen and /route 14A.

Schuyler County Town of Reading	It would appear that NYSDOT has had a bit of an issue with wrong way movements along the divided section of Route 14 north of Watkins Glen. Virtually every driveway entrance is marked with Do Not Enter and Wrong Way signage.

Schuyler County Town of Reading	Northbound ramp for Route 14A from Route 14. Beyond Route 14A, Route 14 narrows from this divided highway to a conventional two-lane road. It maintains this configuration as it follows the high undulations of the western bank of Seneca Lake until entering the Town of Geneva.

Ontario County City of Geneva	Massive shield assembly on NY 14 North indicating the turnoff for US 20/NY 5 East. With a grade separation carrying NY 14 over US 20/NY 5, a pair of connector roads link NY 14 with the duplex, this one for the eastbound roadway, and one north of the bridge for the westbound roadway. The "Truck Route" sign should actually appear beneath the bottom of the two NY 14 North shields on this assembly, as truck traffic using NY 14 is routed along US 20/NY 5 and Castle St. to by-pass a stretch of NY 14 that passes through a historic residential area and downtown Geneva.
