Sign gantry on M-53 North at the 26 Mile Rd. interchange (Exits 23-B and 23-A).  Similar to the M-59 and 23 Mile Rd. interchanges, M-53 meets 26 Mile Rd. at a six-ramp parclo AB-4 interchange with both loop ramps in the northern half of the interchange.  However, unlike the previous two interchanges, as a result of reconstruction that was done in 2009, the ramps on both the west and east sides of the interchange meet 26 Mile Rd. at roundabouts.

Left-side overhead 0.75 mile advance exit sign for  Van Dyke Ave. (Exit 25) on M-53 North.  Van Dyke Ave. parallels M-53 to the west.  At this upcoming exit north of the 27 Mile Rd. underpass is a connector road that links M-53 with Van Dyke Ave., particularly for traffic bound for downtown Romeo.  Even though it is a marked exit, the ramp actually intersects M-53 South at-grade at a traffic signal.  Consequently, the freeway is defined to end briefly, and the speed limit drops from 70 to 55.  North of the ramp divergence, the freeway resumes, and the speed limit jumps back up to 70.

Typical advance intersection signage for state-maintained highways in Macomb County feature both the name of the road and a shield for the route that follows that highway.  This on appears along eastbound Bordman Rd. in advance of where it meets M-53/Van Dyke Ave. on the border between Macomb and Lapeer Counties.  Hipp Rd. meets Bordman Rd. immediately before the M-53 intersection, so it is also mentioned on this guide sign.
