Michigan Route 134

Western Terminus: I-75 (Exit 359), at a diamond interchange approximately 14 miles north of St. Ignace

Eastern Terminus: Townline Rd. intersection, just south of the hamlet of Drummond on Drummond Island

Length: 33.19 miles

Counties: Mackinac, Chippewa

Routing: M-134 begins at a diamond interchange with I-75 (Exit 359) in a remote portion of eastern Mackinac County.  The state highway heads easterly, straddling the northern shore line of Lake Huron as it makes its way to Cedarville, where it meets M-129 at its Southern Terminus.  Continuing easterly, M-134 crosses into Chippewa County, slips back into Mackinac County, and finally settles into Chippewa County for good, prior to intersecting M-48 at its Eastern Terminus.  M-134 passes through De Tour State Park en route to De Tour Village.  Here, M-134 traffic accesses a ferry across the De Tour Passage to Drummond Island.  Once on the island, M-134 proceeds easterly for approximately 8 miles to the Townline Rd. intersection near the hamlet of Drummond.  It is at this point where M-134 comes to an end.

A blast from the past: TO M-134 and TO I-75 (MI) trailblazers, featuring a cutout M-134 shield, on H-63 North, about 0.25 mile west of M-134's Western Terminus at I-75.  These shields date back to the 1960s, when cutouts were still in use.  The guide sign just down the road may also date back that far, as it identifies US 2, which used to follow I-75 all the way up to Sault Ste. Marie, but was truncated back to St. Ignace...in 1983.

Shield assembly marking the Eastern Terminus of M-134 on Drummond Island, at the back of M-134's intersection with Townline Rd. just south of the community of Drummond.  Note that instead of the standard ENDS plate that is typically used at endpoints in Michigan, an END plate that is typically the standard in other states is in place beneath the M-134 marker here.
