Macomb County Ground mounted sign for the M-3 interchange.  Several of these ground mounted exit signs have sprung up in the Metro Detroit area over the past few years.

Macomb County Overhead sign for M-3 mounted alongside a variable message sign.  M-3 is the first westbound interchange along I-696 from its eastern terminus at I-94.

Macomb County View looking westbound along I-696 through the Gratiot Road underpass.  Note the speed limit sign in the right hand side of this photo.  Days after this photo was taken, the speed limit along I-696 was raised from 65 to 70mph.  Michigan's minimum freeway speed was also raised, from 45 to 55mph.

Macomb County Driving west through the M-53 interchange along I-696.  Note the diamond ground concrete pavement.  Diamond grinding a road surface smoothes out service imperfections and can really improve the ride quality of an otherwise aging pavement.

Oakland County Driving westerly along I-696 under the Bermuda underpass and nearing the Woodward Avenue interchange.  Woodward Avenue leads northwesterly from Downtown Detroit and is the former routing of US-10 before the freeway age in Metro Detroit.

Oakland County Westbound ramp to US-24/M-10 interchange along I-696 interchange.  The M-10 carriageways split surrounding I-696 for several miles.  US-24 crosses I-696 and M-10 about halfway through this parallel routing, making for a very large and complex interchange.
