Western Terminus: Eastern junction of I-180 and IL 26 in Hennepin, at an interchange that doubles as I-180's Southern Terminus Eastern Terminus: US 34 in Oswego Length: 69.37 miles Counties: Kendall, La Salle, Putnam Routing: Starting from I-180's Southern Terminus at the eastern junction of I-180 and IL 26 in Hennepin, IL 71 goes easterly through Mark, Granville and Standard, before crossing the Kendall-La Salle County Line. East of Cedar Point, IL 71 crosses I-39/US 51 (Exit 51), then meets IL 251. IL 351 begins here, and follows IL 71 heading northerly through Oglesby. After the two highways split, IL 71 turns easterly, following the south banks of the Illinois River, and passing through Starved Rock State Park, in the process. IL 71 turns northeasterly before heading into Ottawa. Following a brief duplex with IL 23 across the Illinois River into downtown Ottawa, IL 71 departs the town to the east running concurrent with US 6. After US 6 splits to the east, IL 71 heads to the northeast, crossing I-80 at its Exit 93. Continuing to the northeast, IL 71 passes into Putnam County, making its way through Newark and Yorkville in the process. After Yorkville, IL 71 generally parallels the Fox River to the south into Oswego, where the state route comes to an end at US 34. Links:
