Above - A die-cut U.S. Route 50 sign. California is one of the only states that still uses die-cut U.S. Route Shields. Most states simply use square signs with a black shield outline and route number applied to the sign surface. Sadly, Califonia has relatively few U.S. Routes today, as many of the highways were decommissioned in the 1960s.
