Centre - Overhead warning sign indicating an at-grade intersection on the Ventura Freeway north of Seacliff. While most sections of U.S. Route 101 between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara are fully controlled-access, there are a limited number of at-grade intersections along the freeway between Seacliff and Carpinteria because of right-of-way constraints.

Right - Sign indicating the beginning of the Ventura Freeway at the Santa Barbara-Ventura County Line near Carpinteria. The Ventura Freeway begins here and traverses Ventura County and a significant portion of Los Angeles County on its 85-mile journey from Carpinteria to Pasadena. From Carpinteria to Santa Barbara, the U.S. Route 101 Freeway does not have an official name, although it is sometimes referred to as the Santa Barbara Freeway by motorists.
