Centre - Death Valley direction sign on US Route 395 at the Hwy 136 Junction. Strangely, the only highway shield on this sign assembly is the Hwy 190 shield at left, which is the route that actually leads into Death Valley from Olancha. Hwy 136 is merely a cut-off route from US Route 395 to Hwy 190.

Left - Distance sign on Hwy 136 leading east out of Lone Pine, with dual Hwy 136 and Hwy 190 shields. This sign assembly is strange because the two highways are not actually routed concurrently. Hwy 136 meets Hwy 190 at a rural desert junction about 19 miles to the east of Lone Pine. Since there are no major destinations along Hwy 136, the Hwy 190 shield is probably just there as a guide sign to direct people to Hwy 190 and Death Valley.

Right - Button copy distance sign at the Hwy 136 and Hwy 190 Junction near Keeler. Both highways lead to US Route 395, although the two highways pass on the opposite sides of nearby Owens Lake. The distances on this sign are given in both Imperial and Metric measurements.

Left - Facing west at the Hwy 190 and Hwy 136 Junction near Keeler. At this intersection, Hwy 190 turns left towards Olancha while Hwy 136 continues straight ahead towards Lone Pine. Both highways lead to US Route 395 in the Owens Valley.
